2023 Tempranillo
Sourced from a Yellowbird vineyard in Walla Walla, Washington, on a southern facing slope on the east side of town. After a 2 week fermentation and light pressing the wine went into a series of barrels, both French and American oak. Aged in a cool cellar the wine developed some fascinating aromas of cedar and spices alongside a depth of dark fruits. The palate has dark fruit flavors and spices with expressive tannins and a long finish.
“The fruit comes from the Yellowbird vineyard in the Mill Creek foothills, home to some of the top sites in the eastern Walla Walla valley. Oregon winemaker Jason Bull does a fine job with it. The young acids are tart, almost lemony, and the cedary barrel flavors follow 20 months of aging, with some American oak in the mix. Young, sharp and brassy; the tangy berry fruit needs more time to share space with the barrels, but there is clearly good material to work with. 92 Points” -Paul Gregutt’s NW Wine Guide
